Hi! I’m Jenn and I am a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor.
What do I do as a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor?
As Functional Nutritionist Andrea Nakayama puts it,
“The roots of somebody’s health issues usually exist in soil, and that soil is every choice we make every day. So as a functional nutrition practitioner, I am understanding both the roots and how they are impacted by the soil.”
The “soil”, or “terrain”, as we call it in functional nutrition, refers to things like food, sleep, stress, and hydration.

A bit about my training…
In 2015 I received my certification as a Transformational Nutrition Coach (CTNC) through the Institute of Transformational Nutrition. The Institute of Transformational Nutrition (ITN) is a fully accredited program that meets the rigorous curriculum standards set forth by the National Association of Nutrition Professionals.
I am also certified as a Nutritional Therapist through the Health Sciences Academy in the UK.
In 2021, I become a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor (CFNC) after completing the Full Body Systems program through the Functional Nutrition Alliance in Portland, Oregon.
In 2024 I became an AIP certified coach.
During my nutrition education, I have learned how to combine nutrition and psychology in order to help each person as whole, instead of just looking at them as a set of symptoms.
I studied how food, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants can be used therapeutically to enhance health, and improve immunity.
I also learned about detoxification, micro and macro nutrients, nutrition for various health conditions and life stages, psychological methods to deal with emotional eating, mindfulness techniques, stress and its effects on our health, body image and self-care techniques.
Continuing education is especially important to me, since there is always emerging science surrounding nutrition and its impact on the human body.
I have read, and continue to read, extensively on various topics in nutrition.
